Our Facilities
Williams Soaring provides a private airport with a 2300
ft paved runway, pilot bunk rooms with kitchenette, heating, air
conditioning, bath rooms & shower. We have a pilot lounge with a DUATS
weather computer, training and briefing room. We also provide glider
trailer storage.
Our Location
We are located near the Southern edge of the Mendocino
Mountains, well known for fantastic summer and fall cross country flying.
Also, the airport's valley situation creates favorable conditions for
spring and early summer adventures. Mountain Wave is also encountered when
the "westerlies" blow, usually post-frontal in winter and early
spring. And finally the famous Maxwell shear is a phenomenon in the
summer. This intrusion of marine air into the heated Sacramento Valley air
mass is known for creating great soaring conditions and you'll find it
right on our doorstep.

of the Sutter Buttes, Mt. Lassen and Snow Mountain. Serene poetry

Releasing at an altitude of 5280 feet gives a "top of the
world" view from Mt. Shasta to the High Sierra on a clear
day. What an awesome world we live in, and what a beautiful way to

Sailplane aerobatics; flight at all attitudes, wingovers, rolls,
loops and much more. Release altitude 4000 feet. Flights vary
greatly in length. Max. Weight 230 lbs.
INTRODUCTORY
LESSON

beauty? Try this introduction to what becoming a soaring pilot is
all about...includes an introduction to aerodynamics, a "few
rules of the
road" and a chance to control the aircraft...An experience or
gift that may grow into a lifestyle - be a pilot - for the joy of
it. Includes everything you need to start you on the way to being
a soaring pilot: a 4000-foot tow, one and a half-hours of
instruction. Max. Weight 240 lbs.
* All rides are based on the altitude
of the tow. Our pilots tailor the flights to your individual desire; enjoy
a smooth, relaxing tour or a shorter yet more adventurous ride, we are
sure you will enjoy your flight.

MAGIC $80
Enjoy
the excitement of silent flight with a friend. Share a glider ride

Repair Shop
We
are now a FAA Certified Repair Station (CFS) # V72R172Y
We specialize in composite repairs and
refinishing. Williams Soaring Center offers a newly completed full service
maintenance and repair facility for fiberglass sailplanes, including
custom refinishing, restoration, modification, and inspections.
Our shop hourly rate is $65 per hour.
