Yosemite In a Day

Departs Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Adults $129, Students $115

Hailed as the "crown jewel" of the National Park Service, Yosemite is truly a breath of fresh air. On this day tour you'll spend 5-6 hours snapping photos of waterfalls, and watching climbers scale granite cliffs. As with all our tours, the price includes the entry fee so you won’t be surprised by unexpected costs when you get to the park.

The day begins with picking you up from your lodging between 6:30 and 7am and heading east across the Bay Bridge offering great views of San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and Fisherman's Wharf.

Yosemite Valley

On the way we stop at a fruit stand in the Central Valley. Famous for its rich volcanic soil, the Central Valley is a booming agricultural region best known for almonds, grapes, tomatoes, peaches and strawberries.

After our rest stop we begin our journey up through the cattle and horse ranching lands of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Continuing on through California Gold Country, and the old gold rush town of Groveland, we wind our way into Yosemite National Park.

Maps and guides in hand we begin with a one and a half hour guided tour through Yosemite's glaciated valley with its famous waterfalls and rock formations including Yosemite Falls -- the tallest waterfall in North America and fifth tallest on Earth, El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Fall,

Friendly Small Groups

Sentinel Dome and many more. The valley is approximately 1 mile (1.5 km) wide and 7 miles (10 km) long and we conduct our tour by stopping and getting out for a number of photo opportunities. During the tour you'll see the valley from a number of great vantage points the best of which is Inspiration Point at 4,500 feet above sea level. Yosemite is a mecca for rock climbers and the sight of people climbing El Capitan's 3,000 ft (1 km) sheer rock face is quite amazing (seasonal).

After the tour we stop for the afternoon near the base of Yosemite falls (seasonal). Here you'll get a chance to walk to the base of the falls, get some lunch, visit the main visitor's center, The Ansel Adams Gallery, The Ahwahnee Hotel, rent a bike or hike some of the shorter trails. Although you could spend three weeks in Yosemite, the three hours you get on your own is time enough to experience what has made Yosemite one of America's most popular national parks. We know you'll be impressed.

Regrouping again in the late afternoon, we head for San Francisco stopping for a short break before arriving back in the city and dropping you at your lodging between 8:30 and 9:00pm.

Yosemite 2 Day Hotel Trip

Departs Mondays

Single Occupancy Adult $319 | Student $279

Double Occupancy Adult $269 | Student $239

The two days in the park are divided between Yosemite Valley and the High Country. Yosemite Valley is a glaciated valley famous for waterfalls and rock formations including Yosemite Falls (the tallest waterfall in North America and fifth tallest on Earth), El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Fall, Sentinel Dome and many more. The valley is approximately 1 mile (1.5 km) wide and 7 miles (10 km) long so we conduct our tour by stopping and getting out for a number of photo opportunities. During the tour you will see the valley from a number of great vantage points, possibly the best of which is Inspiration Point at 4,500 feet above sea level. Yosemite is a mecca for rock climbers and the sight of people climbing El Capitan's 3,000 ft (1 km) sheer rock face is quite amazing (seasonal).

The High Country of Yosemite ranges from 8,000ft to the peak of Mt. Lyle which is over 13,000ft high! Most often we visit Glacier Point (seasonal) on these tours where you can look down on the valley from a bird’s-eye view 3,000ft above. In addition to the spectacular views you can take a hike to the top of Sentinel Dome or Taft Point. On one of the days you will have the opportunity to hike amongst the Giant Sequoias, the largest living things on the planet. This plant species is found in one area of the world only, the western slope of the Sierra Nevada.

Giant Sequoias

We stay at the Cedar Lodge which is situated in the picturesque Merced River canyon close to the river. The river flows heavy in spring and early summer but is beautiful to swim in during August and September. Cedar Lodge has private beach access on the Merced River along with a heated indoor pool and jacuzzi as well as another pool outdoors. All you need to take with you on this tour is a day pack with what you need to hike. This way you can leave your larger luggage items at your hotel in San Francisco and travel lightly with no hassles.

View of Half Dome from Glacier Point

Yosemite Valley, the High Country, Giant Sequoias, and the comfort of a bed: Our overnight hotel trip has it all.

Yosemite 3 Day Camping Tour

Departs Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday

May 25 - October 15, 2006

Adult $240 Student $220

Day 1

We leave San Francisco in the morning after pickups from your accommodation. Once out of the city we stop to purchase fresh food for our time in the park. Once we have all of our provisions we will cross the Central Valley and through the Gold Country on our way into the mountains. On this first day we hike down to the Giant Sequoia trees for a picnic lunch, among the largest living things on earth. The hike through the Sequoias is shaded and pleasant and brings you right up close to these massive wooden monuments, some of which are over one thousand years old and measure up to 30ft wide & 300ft tall. Continuing into the park on an 1 1/2 hour guided tour, we descend into Yosemite Valley, which is the most famous and picturesque part of Yosemite with some of the world's tallest waterfalls and incredible vistas made famous by the photographer Ansel Adams. While in the valley your guide will give you an orientation to the park as well as an explanation of the itinerary and options that you will have for the next two days. After some free time in Yosemite Valley you will head for the campsite to set up the tents and cook a delicious meal, ending the day with some drinks around the campfire as you decide what to do with your next two days in the park.

Yosemite Valley

Day 2

Rising early we prepare breakfast and lunch, clean up camp and head off in the van for a fun day in the park full of hiking, sightseeing and exploring. The itinerary can vary depending on the chosen hike for the day but we normally go up into the high country to explore the beautiful alpine lakes, snow melt waterfalls, amazing granite rock formations and trails as high as 11,000 feet. At the end of the day we head back to camp for dinner and unwind by the campfire.

Day 3

Day three is what we call the free day where the exact itinerary is flexible, based on the interests of the group. Normally we head into Yosemite Valley where you can choose one of the number of great hikes, rent a bike or relax in the shade by the emerald green Merced River. After another full day in the park we head back to San Francisco arriving in the city around 9pm.

During May, June and early July (snowpack dependent), you have the option to join a Whitewater rafting trip on the Merced River. This Class III-IV adventure is an additional $140-$160 depending on the day.

This adventure includes camping equipment (except a sleeping bag), seven meals (LDBLDBL), park fees, tax, and transportation. If you need to borrow a sleeping bag, we will rent it to you at a rate of $10 for the trip. Trips depart every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from May 25- October 15. Come enjoy the good times with Incredible Adventures.

Friendly Small Groups

Camping
Camping is easy, but cooperation is important. Don't worry if you've never camped before, many people haven't. We supply all the camping equipment necessary for a trip of this nature, using quality tents, camping and cooking equipment. Everybody is expected to participate in setting up and breaking down camp. We camp at the best campsites, most with hot showers and swimming in rivers, pools, or the ocean.

Food
We provide the food, but not the chefs. You guys are the cooks, waiters, dishwashers and of course the guests. On leaving a city we stop at a supermarket and buy everything we need. The fare is a mixture of chicken, beef and vegetarian, all you can eat and very tasty. Most people eat better with us than they have done previously on their travels.

Transportation
We use 15 passenger vans with air conditioning and stereo for a comfortable ride. Our vehicles are fueled by Biodiesel, a vegetable oil-based diesel fuel, to promote green business. All of our vans have large roof racks for your luggage and the camping equipment.

Sleeping Bags
For camping, you will need a sleeping bag. If you don't have one, we will rent one to you for $10 for the two nights.

What to Bring
On our journeys you will need sneakers or hiking boots, shorts, T-shirts, swimwear, sun protection, a water bottle, flashlight, and something warmer in case there is a change in weather.

Weather
June through September Yosemite is hot and sunny. May and October days are warm with cooler nights and occasional showers.

Redwoods and Wine Country

Daily Departures

Adult $75 | Student $65

Our journey begins with picking you up from your lodging between 8:00 and 9:00 am and heading North across the Golden Gate Bridge offering great views of San Francisco Bay, the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz Island, the Marin Headlands, and Fisherman's Wharf.

We wind our way through the coastal mountains near Mt. Tamalpais (the highest point in the North Bay region) on our way to Muir Woods. The panoramic views of the Bay and Pacific Ocean are a contrast to the intense dense forests that thrive in the foggy environment around San Francisco Bay.

With map and guide in hand, you’ll have 1-1.5 hours to do what you like… an easy hike of Muir Woods National Monument trails. President Theodore Roosevelt set this small redwood grove aside in 1908 as a federally protected area. You will see some of the tallest trees on earth. This forest is a small reminder that nearly all of California’s North Coast was covered with these great trees. Today, this is one of a handful of groves that have never been logged. The Coastal Redwoods tower above as you walk along Redwood Creek. From easy to strenuous, ocean vistas to deep woods, the sights, sounds, and smells are sure to reconnect you with a natural world where there is something for everyone.

Regrouping again a bit before noon, we travel to the wine country stopping for a short lunch break. Afterward we take in a few wineries for tasting in the famous Sonoma Valley. Savor (if you are over 21) a variety of white, red, and dessert wines at the Larson Family, Homewood, Cline Cellars, and the Benziger Family wineries among others. Also, you can experience some of California’s tastiest cheeses at the Sonoma Jack Cheese Factory in downtown Sonoma.

You’ll see the beautiful valleys that have supplied California and the world with fantastic wine for over 60 years. The landscape of rolling hills with row upon row of wine grapes is astonishing and provides great backgrounds for memorable snapshots. If you haven’t already experienced the awe-inspiring view of San Francisco from the Marin Headlands in the morning, it’s just as great in the late afternoon as you return to San Francisco. An ‘Incredible’ day in the woods and wine country is a great segway to a great San Francisco night on the town. We return you to your lodging between 5:30-6:30 pm.

The weather is warmest between May and October, with possible fog clearing by noon. Whatever time of year you choose to visit the Monument and Wine County we hope you'll be as impressed as most of our visitors, and if you have any questions simply contact us (800) 777-8464  or email us at info@incadventures.com.
